Gourmet Coffee

Generally speaking, gourmet coffee is simply a type or blend of coffee grown and roasted with superior methods in order to create a better flavor. These methods can apply to types of roast from any region. While not as easy to find, those who seek out gourmet coffee often swear by its superior taste and overall quality. This coffee also tends to be more expensive.

Gourmet coffee can also refer to coffee to which additional flavors have been added during processing. Blends such as vanilla and hazelnut come out of this process. Some people prefer this flavored coffee, while others find it blasphemous. It is, like anything else regarding coffee tasting, a matter of preference.

It is not illegal to put the label “gourmet” on any kind of coffee; however, generally speaking a brand will lose its reputation if the “gourmet” label is used too liberally. If you are curious about what the best gourmet coffee in your area is, ask someone at your local coffee shop or roaster.
