Espresso Coffee Maker
An espresso coffee maker is a coffee making machine that also creates a very strong tasting drink called espresso. Espresso machines used in coffee shops are often very complex and ornate machines consisting of several large compartments and elaborate plumbing schemes. These large machines are designed to brew the small but potent drink of espresso. Espresso shots also go into making such popular coffee drinks as the Americano, mochas and lattes.
The first espresso coffee maker was made in France in 1822. However, the modern-day espresso machine traces its roots to a machine created by the Italian Achilles Gaggia in 1946. Gaggia’s machine used a spring-powered level system which created a high pressure espresso machine.
Espresso is very popular in the United States, but in Italy, it remains the primary drink in cafes. That is to say, if you order coffee in an Italian café, you will get espresso unless you specify otherwise.
